History
Tiriac International Foundation’s philanthropic core belief was inspired by the Țiriac family’s longstanding philanthropic engagement and its consistent involvement in corporate social responsibility in Romania.
In sports, the Țiriac family has invested heavily — through Fundația Țiriac, a Romanian foundation- in developing young talent, providing training opportunities, infrastructure, and international exposure. Through initiatives such as the tennis, hockey and football academies, these efforts have supported the growth of Romanian athletes and promoted healthy lifestyles among children.
In education, over the years the Țiriac family has sponsored scholarships, school rehabilitation programs, and establishment of modern learning facilities aiming to reduce inequalities, encourage performance, and inspire future generations to pursue excellence. Partnerships with universities and cultural institutions have also fostered innovation and research over time. This enduring commitment to education as a fundamental pillar for progress has been a key source of inspiration for TIF’s current mission.
Today, Țiriac International Foundation directs its own efforts toward vulnerable communities, with a focus on reducing disparities in access to quality learning and development opportunities.
The Țiriac family has also demonstrated a strong commitment to social welfare. Through Fundația Dumbrava Minunată, – a Romanian foundation- the family established and supported a shelter initially dedicated to orphan children, later converted to homes for older adults in Brasov. Regular donations to hospitals and humanitarian programs, have offered direct support for children in need, elderly people, and disadvantaged families. Emergency relief, medical equipment, and programs for social integration have also been at the heart of these efforts.
Together, these initiatives underline the Țiriac family’s long-term vision: a society where access to education, fair opportunities in sports, and protection for the vulnerable create a stronger, more balanced Romania. Inspired by this legacy, Țiriac International Foundation pursues its own philanthropic contribution in alignment with these values, supporting partner organizations that share this commitment.

Our approach
