The national hockey tournament organized by Fundația Țiriac at Allianz-Țiriac Arena has become a cornerstone event for youth ice hockey in Romania, attracting teams from across the country.
The Allianz-Țiriac Arena in Otopeni hosted the seventh edition of the Țiriac Trophy, welcoming over 400 young athletes from junior hockey teams nationwide. The competition has grown significantly since its inception, establishing itself as one of the most anticipated events in Romanian youth hockey.
The four-day tournament featured age-group competitions ranging from under-10 to under-18 categories, with teams competing for medals and the prestigious Țiriac Trophy. Beyond the competition itself, the event emphasized fair play, teamwork, and the development of young athletes.
“This tournament represents everything we believe in — giving young people the opportunity to compete at a high level while learning values that will serve them throughout their lives,” said a representative from Fundația Țiriac.
The Allianz-Țiriac Arena, built to international Olympic standards with a seating capacity of 450 spectators, provided a professional environment for the young competitors. Many of the participating athletes have come through the Foundation’s Ice Skating Initiation Program, which has introduced over 2,500 children to skating since its launch.
The event was supported by Țiriac International Foundation as part of its ongoing commitment to developing winter sports culture in Romania and ensuring that talented young athletes have access to professional training and competition opportunities.
