Țiriac International Foundation partners with Clubul Regal al Medicilor to bring early cancer detection services to vulnerable communities in Brașov County.
A three-year Comprehensive Cancer Care and Prevention Program has officially launched in Brașov County, aiming to provide free cancer screening tests to 6,000 individuals from vulnerable communities. The initiative represents one of the largest private investments in preventive healthcare in the region.
The program, developed in partnership with Clubul Regal al Medicilor, will offer screening for breast, cervical, colorectal, prostatic, and lung cancers — the five types that benefit most from early detection. Beneficiaries identified as having health concerns will receive free follow-up consultations and, where necessary, access to cancer treatment.
“Early detection saves lives,” explained a medical coordinator for the project. “By bringing screening services directly to underserved communities, we can identify cancers at stages when treatment is most effective.”
The program’s objectives extend beyond individual screenings. It aims to provide free cancer care treatment for 200 patients, including oncological surgeries, and to train at least 30 general practitioners in cancer prevention and early detection protocols.
Public health campaigns will accompany the screening program, promoting awareness of cancer prevention strategies such as healthy lifestyles and the importance of regular check-ups. The long-term goal is to create a sustainable framework for cancer prevention that can serve as a model for other regions in Romania.
