Teach for Romania launches an intensive two-year initiative to drive sustainable transformation in schools serving vulnerable communities in Crizbav and Săcele.
The Strategic Schools Program, developed by Teach for Romania with funding from Țiriac International Foundation, has officially begun its work in two schools in Brașov County. The ambitious initiative aims to benefit at least 500 children and 25 teachers over the 2025-2027 school years.
The program takes a comprehensive approach to school transformation, working simultaneously with school leadership, teachers, and the broader community. School principals will receive over 400 hours of training, mentoring, and coaching tailored to the complex challenges of educational leadership.
“Sustainable change in education requires working at every level,” explained a Teach for Romania representative. “When principals, teachers, and communities are aligned around a shared vision, the impact on students is transformative.”
A critical mass of teachers — at least 30% of each school’s teaching staff — will receive training focused on creating safe, inclusive learning environments and developing students’ key competencies in literacy, numeracy, financial education, and socio-emotional skills.
The program also includes investment funds for projects supporting students and the community, including extracurricular activities, parental education initiatives, and basic infrastructure improvements. By the end of the two-year cycle, both schools are expected to function as learning and development hubs for their communities.
