Over 200 children aged between 3 and 7 stepped onto the ice this weekend at the Allianz-Țiriac Arena Ice Rink to take part in the launch event of the ninth edition of the free skating initiation program “First Steps on Ice,” organized by the Țiriac Foundation.
Participants in the launch event enjoyed their very first skating lesson, guided by the Țiriac Foundation’s instructors. This initial initiation session is mandatory in order to validate enrollment in the program.
“Today, dozens and dozens of children came here. It is impressive to see them at 3–4 years old stepping onto the ice with emotion and, after just a few minutes, managing to skate on their own, supported by the frame and encouraged by the coach. Sport remains the foundation for a healthy life. What the Foundation is doing here may seem like a drop in the ocean, but it still matters. I congratulate all the children who came to skate and wish them much success,” said Mr. Ion Țiriac, who attended the launch event of the free skating initiation program “First Steps on Ice.”
The main goal of the program is to attract as many children as possible to learn the essential skills of skating and to develop healthy habits related to the regular practice of sport.
Skating initiation courses continue from October 6, 2025
The lessons delivered by the Țiriac Foundation’s coaches provide participating children with a solid foundation, helping them develop the skills necessary to practice ice skating.
The free courses will continue starting October 6, 2025, in organized training groups, from Monday to Friday, between 2:00–3:00 PM and 3:00–4:00 PM, and will run until the end of the sporting season.
A minimum attendance rate of 70% is required in order for the young participants to fully benefit from the experience.
Throughout the entire sporting season, participants receive the necessary equipment free of charge and are supervised and trained by the specialized instructors of the Țiriac Foundation.
Children who stand out through passion and talent will be invited to take the next step by joining the hockey teams supported by the Țiriac Foundation and continuing to develop their experience on the ice, or they may choose to pursue specialized courses in figure skating or speed skating.
The Țiriac Foundation invests in children’s future
Since 2017, the Țiriac Foundation has been turning children’s dream of skating into reality, offering them each year the opportunity to discover a spectacular sport and to learn through experience.
The Foundation provides children, free of charge, with everything they need to step confidently onto the ice—from equipment and dedicated coaches to a safe and friendly environment where every child can progress at their own pace.
It is an invitation to enjoy movement, discover the magic of sport, and live experiences that contribute to their physical, emotional, and social development.
