Comprehensive Cancer Care and Prevention Program
Țiriac International Foundation in partnership with Regina Maria engaged to support Clubul Regal al Medicilor with three years grant for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Prevention Program, having as main objective to improve outcomes for prevention and reducing the risk of cancer through earlier detection and improving survival rates through personalized and effective treatment plans. By combining prevention efforts with high-quality oncological treatments, the program aims to create a multidisciplinary approach in the fight against cancer, benefiting both patients and the healthcare system.
Comprehensive Cancer Care and Prevention Program aims for:
- improved early detection of cancer for 6,000 individuals from vulnerable communities in Brasov County receiving screening tests for breast, cervical, colorectal, prostatic and lung cancer;
- improved diagnosis through 500 free consultations for the beneficiaries of the screening tests identified as having health issues requiring further tests and a specific treatment plan;
- effective treatment of cancer for 200 patients receiving free access to cancer care treatment, including oncological surgeries; and
- training for cancer care and prevention for minimum 30 general practitioners.
The desired outcomes are twofold:
- reducing the incidence of cancer through public health campaigns that promote awareness of cancer prevention strategies such as healthy lifestyles and early detection; and
- offering modern and affordable treatments to patients by providing early interventions, advanced therapies and a model of patient-centered care. This includes incorporating emerging therapies such as immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and precision medicine, offering hope for more effective and personalized treatment options.
In the long term, the aim is to create a sustainable framework for cancer prevention and treatment in Brasov County that not only reduces cancer deaths but supports patients throughout their journey. This program will stimulate multidisciplinary collaboration, improve health infrastructure and facilitate the exchange of best practices, ensuring that innovative treatment options and preventive measures reach the population of Brasov County.
