Ice Skating Initiation Program for Kids

Tiriac International Foundation financed the Ice-Skating Initiation Program for children developed by Fundația Țiriac.  The program is designed to introduce young participants to the fundamentals of skating in a safe and professional environment.

Hosted at the Allianz Țiriac Arena ice rink in Otopeni, the program offers access to certified instructors, specialized equipment, and a structured curriculum that emphasizes balance, coordination, and confidence on ice. The eight editions of the program have attracted over 2,700 children from schools and local communities, making it one of the most consistent grassroots skating initiatives in Romania. Beyond technical skills, the project promotes healthy lifestyles, discipline, and teamwork, ensuring that children are exposed to winter sports from an early age. Through the Țiriac International Foundation’s support, participation is free of charge allowing participation of families who might otherwise not afford such activities. The program has been recognized as a strong contribution to the development of winter sports culture in Romania and continues as a long-term commitment.

Ice Skating Initiation Program for Kids has been extended to Brașov, Galați cities, with further national expansion planned where facilities allow and collaboration with local coaches can be developed.

Performance hockey for children

Tiriac International Foundation financial support continues for children who complete the initiation courses and show passion, solid technique, and a strong drive to take the next step toward performance. More than 200 children are integrated into the hockey teams supported by the Fundația Țiriac, where they continue the development through age-specific teams.

At the core of these programs is sports education: physical literacy, correct movement habits, discipline, teamwork, and respect. Technical progress is built step by step—from skating fundamentals and puck control to game tactics, decision-making, and emotional regulation in competition.

Athletes train under a highly experienced coaching staff, with national and international credentials. Training takes place at Allianz-Țiriac Arena ice rink, also a Țiriac International Foundation infrastructure project, featuring modern infrastructure that meets competition standards. High-quality ice, dedicated locker rooms, and well-structured scheduling ensure continuity and consistent training rhythms for each age group.

Regular competition exposure—from friendlies and local tournaments to national and international national championship stages—is essential to athlete growth. Facing diverse opponents, reviewing game footage, and tracking key performance indicators (technical, tactical, team, and mental) accelerate progress, build confidence, and reinforce fair play. In this safe, professional, and motivating environment, every child is guided step by step along a clear pathway to performance, with real opportunities to excel on the ice.

Organized and sponsored hockey competitions through Fundația Țiriac

Fundația Țiriac is equally committed to fostering hockey, a sport with long-standing tradition in Romania. Through the Allianz-Țiriac Arena ice rink, the foundation has organized and sponsored annual hockey tournaments and exhibition matches that bring together junior teams, professional clubs, and even international guest teams. Events such as the Țiriac International Trophy and the junior hockey league have given hundreds of children the chance to compete in a professional setting, promoting fair play and skill development.

To date,  Fundația Țiriac has organized and supported a series of prestigious national and international sports events that are already shaping tradition in ice hockey and have become benchmark competitions for this sport discipline: 4 editions of the Allianz-Țiriac International Trophy, 7 editions of the national Țiriac Trophy, 2 editions of the Children and Junior Hockey League and other 5 previous competitions. All these flagship competitions reflect the Foundation’s mission to promote sports among young people and to encourage a healthy, active lifestyle.

Sponsorship has also extended to 17 local and national competitions, where Fundația Țiriac ensured visibility, organizational support, location and logistics. These events attract significant media coverage and local audience attendance, elevating the profile of youth hockey, helping to inspire new generations of players and strengthening the sports community both locally and nationally.
